Dummy Runner
A tactical decoy who makes sacrificial off-the-ball runs to drag central defenders out of position and open up space for teammates.
Tactical Behavior & AI Mechanics
The Dummy Runner is one of the most unique tactical assets in eFootball. Rather than making direct runs toward the net to receive passes, the Dummy Runner deliberately makes curved or diagonal runs into wide channels or away from the ball. This movement forces opposing central defenders to track them, creating wide open central corridors for trailing midfielders or inverted wingers.
When controlled by the AI, a Dummy Runner actively detects where space is needed most. If a Hole Player or Prolific Winger is cutting inside, the Dummy Runner will drag their marker toward the opposite flank, leaving a gaping void in the center of the penalty box.
On the ball, Dummy Runners are capable link players who excel at quick one-touch lay-offs. They thrive in fluid possession schemes where rotational movement and positional interchange disrupt rigid defensive lines.
Complementary Player Partnerships
In eFootball, Dummy Runner operates at peak effectiveness when paired with complementary playstyles that balance off-the-ball runs and space creation:
